Do your ever catch yourself thinking “Oh crap, I blew it! I can’t believe I didn’t listen to myself. I knew I shouldn’t have done that!”

Now that you know you have inner guidance available to let you know what’s in your highest good in every deciding moment, you are going to become ultra-aware of all of the times you don’t follow your intuition. How are you going to know when you’ve gone off-course? Easy. Your feeling barometer is going to let you know immediately.

Imagine that you have an inner pendulum hanging in your torso, like the kind that swings on a Grandfather clock. This pendulum represents what I call your inner ‘feeling barometer’. We all have a feeling barometer. When you act on-course with the will of your soul, your feeling barometer will stay still, and you will feel steady inside. Some people call this feeling ‘centered’. It is a feeling of calm, of inner well-being, of right-knowing inside.

Think of a time that you have felt centered and on-course, when you knew that what you were doing was exactly what was in your highest good in that moment. Remember what that felt like inside. However you define this feeling is Ok.

Now, think of a time when you acted off-course, and recall how that felt. If you acted a little off-course your feeling barometer would have swung slightly off-center and you would have felt a little bad or upset inside, letting you know you had gone a little off-track. If you had acted way off-course your feeling barometer likely swung widely, causing you to feel major stress, self-judgment or internal suffering. We’ve all had plenty experience acting off-course from our intuition, so it shouldn’t be too hard for you to recall how that feels.

I have hundreds of examples from “I can’t believe I just ate that last cookie” to “I can’t believe I went out with that man when every instinct told me not to!” Thankfully, our feelings are neither ‘wrong’ or ‘right’ – they are simply a useful tool for learning. If you can begin to view your feelings as simply an excellent source of information, your life will get a whole lot easier to navigate.

Your feeling barometer is the second part of your Internal Guidance System. It is an extremely handy tool that you can use to determine whether you are on-course or off-course in any given moment. Check in with your feeling barometer right now. How are you feeling? Centered and steady? Or is something off-course inside? Whatever your internal reading, acknowledge it by telling your barometer, “Thank you for sharing.”

If you can learn to use your feelings as a tool, you will quickly be able to course-correct if you find yourself headed off-track. Claim your feeling barometer.
