Have you ever felt unworthy? If so, unworthy of what? Love or attention? Good things happening in your life? Having things of value? Take a moment to reflect upon the thoughts that you’ve run.

If you have ever lacked a sense of your self-worth, rest easy; you are not alone. In fact, I’ve yet to meet anyone upon this planet who has not suffered from some form of unworthiness issue. It is like a plague that has overtaken humanity!

I had a very extreme case of it myself. I felt unworthy of anything – Love, attention, healthy relationships, good things, prosperity – you name it, I felt I didn’t deserve to have it. When I dug really deep in my 30’s, I saw that I felt unworthy of breathing, unworthy of being alive, unworthy of even existing. It was quite a virulent scourge – thank God I discovered the cure!

The concept of ‘self-worth’ is a non-issue from Spirit’s perspective. If you picture your source of Loving like the sun, notice how all of the rays are shining equally. The sun is not withholding Love-light from some of its own rays, thinking, “This ray is a really bad ray. I think I’ll leave it in the dark.” The sun is also not saying, “Now this ray over here is a really good ray, a more worthy ray. I think I’ll give this ray more Love.” Sounds pretty silly, huh? Yet, this is what most of us are thinking or feeling – that we aren’t worthy in some way.

The truth is that it is impossible NOT to be worthy. Just like the sunlight comes from the sun and is made out of sun, you are a Love-light and are made out of Love. Can you place a measure on the value of Love? If Love is a name for source-energy, and God is another name for source-energy, could you place a value on God? It’s impossible! There really isn’t anything more valuable, right? So we could say that God is priceless, that Love is invaluable – there is no measure of worth because the value is higher than anything our mind could even conceive. So, you could say that your source has intrinsic value, just because it is made out of source-energy.

You are made out of source-energy, too. You are Love in a body. The very fact that you were born makes you intrinsically worthy. You were worthy before you were born, you are currently worthy and you will be worthy after your soul leaves your body. Your self-worth is a given, from Spirit’s perspective. There is no such thing as an unworthy Being. Your worth is not dependent upon any other factor – gender, race, religion, nationality, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, intelligence, accomplishments or education. Your value has nothing to do with circumstances, appearances or anything else. Your worth is also not dependent on your issues or your behavior; there is no way to blow it! Self-worth is simply something you are born with – just like having teeth, bones, blood & skin – your worth is innate.

The cure for the unworthiness plague is to recognize that it doesn’t really exist on the Being level. If you’d like to begin feeling better, claim your intrinsic worth. State, “I am innately worthy.” If you don’t believe this right away, don’t worry; embodying the knowledge of your immeasurable value is a process, not an instantaneous event. You’ll have plenty of time to embody the concept of intrinsic worth and clear all the naysaying voices in upcoming blogs. For today, I encourage you to simply decide that you are already worthy. If this idea seems too far-fetched for you, state something along these lines, “I’m open to the possibility that I might already be a worthy person.” However you go about this is fine. There is no way to blow it because you are worthy no matter what!

Many Blessings of Joy and Vibrant Freedom

“Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him to be.” ~ From the poem “Desiderata” written in 1927 by Max Ehrmann

Action Step ~ Claim your intrinsic worth. Declaration: “I am intrinsically worthy. I’ve always been worthy, and I’ll always be worthy, no matter what. As a Spiritual Being in a human body, my value is immeasurable.”
