Have you ever been sick and blamed something ‘out there’ for making you ill?
Here’s what you likely hear about disease every day. “Germs cause illness.” “Junk food causes diabetes.” “Not enough calcium causes osteoporosis.” “Smoking causes lung cancer.” “Living under power lines causes leukemia.” “Lack of exercise causes arthritis.” “Toxic chemicals cause cancer.”
Having a disease has become so popular these days that chemotherapy is now a billion-dollar industry. Most senior citizens in the United States spend the bulk of their social security payment on prescription drugs. Not only is illness popular and profitable for the medical industry, it is also legally profitable. People are so sue-happy – looking anywhere to place the blame – that companies like Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks and the 99 Cents Store now have warning signs on every label stating, “May Cause Cancer” so that they can prevent future lawsuits.
Now, before I go any further, I must give the disclaimer that I am not a medical doctor. I am not licensed to diagnose or treat any medical condition. Here is the higher truth: Radiant health is your birthright. Disease is exactly that – a dis-ease, or lack of ease within the body. Germs do not cause disease; germs are a natural, normal part of your physiology. There is only one thing that causes a lack of ease, and that is the illusion of separation from your Loving source. How the issue of separation manifests is varied, depending upon the choices a person has made. All dis-ease is healable, if a person wishes to become healthy. Healing requires taking full responsibility, listening to your body then making new choices. The cure is not ‘out there’ in some pill, drug or machine; the answer lies within.
If you are feeling sick, ask yourself, “What is making me feel this way?” You can explore the possibilities by getting more specific, “What is causing me stress? Upset? Anxiety? Pain? Fear? Hurt? Grief? Depression?” Or whatever lack-of-ease feelings are most present in your life.
If you get the clue that the stressor is environmental, take responsibility and move! Don’t sit on your ass for the next ten years drinking and bathing in poisoned water or residing under a dangerous magnetic field and then wondering why you don’t feel well.
If you get a clue that something you are eating or drinking is causing your body stress, stop eating and drinking it! Don’t wait for the FDA to put warning labels on your packages – take personal responsibility for everything you put in your mouth. Use common sense. Stop ingesting chemicals. Eat real food (hint: if it has unpronounceable ingredients, is sprayed with poison, looks like plastic, has a name like ‘monster’ or is bright blue/neon pink, chances are it is not real).
If you get a clue that your issue is financial or job-related stress, make a life-style change. Ask for a raise. Get a different job. Downsize your expenses. Work out a job-share or work-from-home option. Simplify. Get a roommate. Take a break. Breathe deeply. Exercise your body. Walk in nature. Join a CrossFit box. Learn Tai Chi or take a yoga class.
If you get the clue that the stress is in your relationship, do something about it. Communicate with your partner. If you really want to be together, cultivate the Love. Spend more time together. Build intimacy. Take a conscious communications course together. If you don’t want to be together, separate.
Take full 100% responsibility for your physical well-being. Do whatever it takes to move into ease. This is your body, the vessel for your soul. You deserve to live in peace, joy and harmony in every given moment.
If you are ready to get out of fear and into radiant health, the first order of business is to take your power back by claiming 100% responsibility for your health. Say, “I am 100% responsible for my own health and wellbeing. If I feel a lack of ease in any way, I have the power to heal it and move into ease.” Your body will thank you. Your soul will thank you.
